Getting started
Add your first plant and plan a garden job.
- Sign in online. Use the same GardenYeah account on iPhone and web to keep your garden together.
- Open Tools → Manage garden locations to name or select your garden. Locations separate gardens; spaces organise areas within a garden.
- Open My Garden, choose the plant section and use the add button. Enter a name and any details you know, and optionally add a photograph. You can enter plants manually without identification.
- Review the planting or sowing journal options before saving. Open the saved plant to check its details.
- In the task list choose Schedule a task. Add a title, due date and optional repeat, then save. Due jobs appear on Today.
Remember: Start with one plant and one task. Add more detail later.
Plants, spaces and photographs
Organise records and keep useful plant details.
- Select the correct garden location. In My Garden, use spaces to group beds, pots or other areas.
- Add plants or crops and assign them to a space where useful. Open a record and choose Edit to correct its details.
- Use Add progress photo on a record to open its editor. Check the photograph and date before saving.
- Use Add plant label to keep nursery label photographs and information with a plant. Label photographs need an internet connection.
- Open Tools → Storage and data to check your remaining photo allowance or view storage statistics.
Remember: Deleting photographs frees storage but does not reset rolling upload allowances. Each label side counts as a photograph.
Journal and completed work
Build a dated history of your garden.
- Open Journal → Record an observation or activity.
- Enter a title, date, activity and notes. Link a plant or space where useful, and optionally add a photograph. Save the entry.
- Use Journal filters to find activities, photographs or completed tasks.
- When marking a task done, review the completion prompt. Completed work is recorded in Journal. Use Undo completion on its journal entry if you completed it accidentally.
Remember: Check dates when recording older observations so your history stays in order.
Tasks and reminders
Schedule work and keep track of what is due.
- Choose Schedule a task in the task list, or select a calendar date and choose Task.
- Enter the job, due date and repeat setting. Link the relevant garden item where appropriate, then save.
- Open a task to review details. Mark done when finished, or use the snooze, skip or edit controls.
- On iPhone, configure reminders in Tools and allow notifications when requested. If previously denied, enable notifications in your phone settings.
Remember: Completing a repeating task schedules its next occurrence. Notification delivery depends on device settings; check Today for due work.
Subscriptions and missing access
Find your plan, restore access and cancel correctly.
- Open Tools → Subscription. Logbook covers garden records; Premium adds identification and personalised AI care.
- If you paid but access is missing, sign into the GardenYeah account used for the purchase. Use Restore purchases on iPhone or Refresh subscription status on web.
- Do not buy a second subscription to recover access. Contact Support if restoring or refreshing does not help.
- Use Manage or cancel subscription and complete cancellation with the purchase provider. Apple manages App Store purchases; web purchases use the billing portal.
- Web upgrades and downgrades are not enabled yet. Contact Support before changing plans or stores.
Remember: Closing checkout, signing out, uninstalling or deleting an account does not cancel a subscription. Check the currency, price and renewal terms before confirming payment.
Offline use, sync and backups
Keep records safe across devices.
- Sign in online first and allow your garden to load. Previously loaded records can remain available offline; not every photograph will necessarily be cached.
- Offline changes and supported photos wait to sync. Reconnect and check for errors before signing out, clearing browser data or removing the app.
- On a computer, use the web app: Tools → Backup and restore → Download complete backup.
- Keep the ZIP somewhere private and safe. It contains garden records, preferences, labels and optimised image files.
- Use Restore complete backup in the web app when needed. Read the prompts: matching records are updated; newer records absent from the archive are not deleted.
Remember: Complete backup and restore are web-only. Identification, new AI advice and label photo uploads require internet. Sync is not a substitute for your own backup.
Account settings and support
Adjust the app, recover sign-in or get help.
- Use Tools to adjust appearance and text size, manage locations or open garden calculators.
- If you cannot sign in, use Reset password and check your junk folder.
- While signed in, open Tools → Support. Describe what happened, the error wording and what you expected. Keep the support reference after sending.
- If you cannot access the app, email support@gardenyeah.com from the address linked to your account.
- Before account deletion, save a backup if wanted and cancel your subscription separately. Tools → Delete account requests permanent deletion of the account and garden data.
Remember: Never send passwords, API keys or full payment-card details to support. Account deletion cannot be undone.
Glossary: GardenYeah terms
A location contains spaces; plants belong in your garden. Tasks plan work, while the journal records what happened. Discoveries and your wishlist help you remember future possibilities.
- Acquired
- A discovery or wishlist item you have obtained and added to your garden. Its record can be linked to the plant created for it.
- Activity
- The type of work or observation recorded in a journal entry, such as planting, sowing, watering, pruning or harvesting.
- Backup
- A separate downloaded ZIP copy of garden records, preferences, labels and optimised photographs. Complete backups are created in the web app.
- Calendar
- A date-based view for browsing scheduled tasks and journal activity.
- Care guide
- Saved care information for a plant. Premium can generate personalised AI advice using the plant and growing details supplied. Review advice against actual conditions.
- Crop
- A plant record categorised as a crop, useful for organising things you grow to harvest, such as vegetables, fruit or herbs.
- Discovery
- A plant or find you want to remember or identify, perhaps seen on a walk or at a nursery. Saving a discovery does not mean you already grow it.
- Due date
- The date a task is scheduled for. It is your planned date, not a guarantee that conditions are suitable for the job.
- Follow-up question
- A question you ask about a care guide to get further explanation. New AI answers require an internet connection and the relevant access.
- Garden calculators
- Tools for working out quantities such as pot capacity or materials from measurements you enter. Check units and inputs; use product-label directions for sprays and fertilisers.
- Garden Location
- A separate garden or property you manage, such as Home or Allotment. Select a location to work with its garden records. It is not the same as a space within that garden.
- GardenYeah account
- Your sign-in for garden records and access. Use the same account across devices. It is separate from the Apple account used for App Store payments.
- Identification
- An online Premium feature that suggests a plant or insect identity from a photograph. Review the suggestion; it is not a guaranteed identification.
- Journal
- Your garden’s dated history of observations, activities, photographs and completed tasks.
- Journal entry
- One dated record in the journal. It can describe an observation or activity, include notes and a photograph, or record a completed task.
- Linked item
- The plant or space associated with a task or journal entry, so you can tell which part of the garden it concerns.
- Logbook plan
- The subscription tier for keeping and organising garden records, tasks, journal entries and photographs. It does not include Premium identification or personalised AI care.
- Mark done
- Record that you completed a task. GardenYeah adds completed work to the journal and schedules the next occurrence when the task repeats.
- My Garden
- The part of GardenYeah where you browse and organise your garden records, including spaces, plants and crops.
- Offline
- Using the app without an internet connection. Previously loaded records and supported edits can be available, but online services and uncached photographs may not be.
- Overdue
- A task whose due date has passed and which is still awaiting completion.
- Photo allowance
- The number of photographs you can upload within rolling time periods. This is separate from storage capacity; deleting photos does not reset the upload count.
- Photo storage
- The space your stored photographs use. Deleting photographs frees storage, but does not reset rolling upload allowances.
- Plant
- A record for something you grow. It can hold a name, variety, space, notes, photographs, labels and care information.
- Plant health check
- An online Premium photo assessment that suggests possible plant problems. It is guidance, not a confirmed diagnosis.
- Plant label
- A saved nursery label, with front/back photographs and details such as purchase information. Each photographed side counts towards photo allowances.
- Premium plan
- The subscription tier that includes Logbook features plus plant, insect and plant-health identification and personalised AI care.
- Progress photo
- A dated photograph used to record how a plant or garden area looks over time.
- Record
- A saved item in GardenYeah, such as a plant, space, task or journal entry. Editing a record updates its stored details.
- Refresh subscription status
- The web action that checks your latest subscription access. It does not buy a plan or restore lost garden records.
- Reminder / Notification
- A phone alert about scheduled work. Reminders depend on notification permission and device settings; the task remains in the app even if you do not receive an alert.
- Repeat
- A schedule for a recurring task. Completing or skipping a repeating task moves it to its next occurrence rather than ending the whole series.
- Restore backup
- Import a complete backup ZIP through the web app. Matching records are updated; newer records not in the archive are not deleted. This is different from Restore purchases.
- Restore purchases
- The iPhone action that checks existing store purchases to recover access. It is not a new purchase and does not restore a garden backup.
- Skip
- Decide not to do this occurrence of a task. A repeating task moves to its next occurrence; a one-off task is marked skipped. Skipping does not record the work as completed.
- Snooze
- Postpone a task to a later date without marking it completed.
- Space
- An area within a garden location, such as a raised bed, patio, greenhouse or border. Use spaces to organise plants and crops.
- Subscription
- Recurring paid access to a plan. Check the price, currency and renewal terms at checkout. Manage cancellation with the provider that took the payment.
- Support reference
- The reference shown after sending a private support request. Keep it for follow-up; never include passwords or full payment-card details.
- Sync
- Keeping account records up to date between this device and the cloud. Offline changes wait for a connection; check for errors before clearing local data.
- Task
- A job you plan to do, with a due date and optional repeat, such as watering a pot or pruning a rose. A task is planned work; a journal entry records an observation or what happened.
- Today
- Your starting view for current garden information and work needing attention, including due and overdue tasks.
- Tools
- The app’s area for help, subscription controls, appearance, reminders, calculators, locations, storage, backup and account settings.
- Undo completion
- Reverse an accidental task completion from its completed-task journal entry.
- Variety
- A more specific name for a plant, such as the tomato variety “Roma”. Record it when known to distinguish similar plants.
- Wishlist
- Plants or discoveries you would like to acquire in future. It is a planning list, not a shopping cart or an order.
